Make Vitamin D, not UV, a priority:
Vitamin D is necessary for strong bones and immune system health. There are three sources of Vitamin D: UVB radiation, certain foods and supplements. The Skin Cancer foundation urges everyone to get their vitamin D safely: from foods and/or supplements. The benefits of UV exposure cannot be separated from its harmful effects (skin cancer, eye damage, premature aging). Foods that are a good source of Vitamin D include oily fish, fortified dairy products and cereals. Recommended levels of Vitamin D range from 200 IU for those under 50 yrs, 400 IU for those under 18, and 600 IU for senior citizens.
